Welcome to Philadelphia Cares About Fairmount Park Day 2008
Imagine a city without parks…
More important, imagine our city without parks…
No wedding pictures in the Azalea Gardens.
No bocce ball in Marconi Plaza.
No jogging along West River Drive.
In Philadelphia, no one has to travel more than a mile to enjoy the splendor of Fairmount Park. Its 9,200 acres are home to many of the region’s cultural and architectural gems. As you can imagine, it requires a lot of TLC from its friends to brighten and restore the park for all to enjoy.
It is in honor and protection of this world-class resource that Greater Philadelphia Cares, in partnership with the Fairmount Park Commission, presents a morning of service from 9:00 - 12:00 pm dedicated to keeping Fairmount Park clean and green for generations to come. Dozens of projects are planned at locations throughout the city, from the Northeast to South Philadelphia - and everywhere in between.
As the city’s largest playground and classroom, Fairmount Park offers something for all. Whether you rollerblade on Kelly Drive or stroll along the Manayunk Canal, please come out and give back to the park that has given us all so much.
